Dr. David Beighley has been deeply involved in Human Capital Development and Organizational Development endeavors for over three decades. He began his counseling career in 1975 as a military staff member at Reynolds Army Hospital, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma upon completion of his training at the U. S. Army Academy of Health Sciences, Brooke Army Medical Center, Ft. Sam Houston, in San Antonio, Texas. After completing his tour in the military, Dr. Beighley joined a counseling practice in Northern California before establishing his own counseling and consulting firm, Beighley Consulting Associates, in 1979. Over the next decade, the firm became the largest private practice counseling and consulting firm in the San Francisco East Bay.
In 1989, David moved his firm and family back to his home community of West Michigan. At that point, he developed Beighley Consulting Associates into a highly specialized consulting firm intensely focusing on strategic analysis, best practice procedures, due diligence, and vision casting with closely held businesses, family-owned business, and board-level institutions. His areas of expertise include tier-one negotiation and conflict-resolution, crisis management, short- and long-term strategy assessment and implementation, internal organizational development analysis and strategy, and multi-generational family systems analysis. Using a family-systems approach, he also works closely with tier-one management spouses and families in dealing with the business-family overlap and stressors inherent to that relationship.
Additionally, he conducts a private psychological practice working with couples and family systems, and is a founding member of Community Wellness Associates, LLC, a group of wellness professionals practicing together on the campus of Christ Community Church in Spring Lake. He is an ordained pastor in the Wesleyan Church and at Christ Community Church.
David received his B.A. from Indiana Wesleyan University, his M.S. in Organizational Development and Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, and a Ph.D. in Family Systems Theory and Therapy from the California Graduate School for Family Psychology. In 2000 he was awarded an Honorary Ph.D. in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University for his dedication to the health and well-being of family-owned and closely-held business ventures. He was also selected as IWU Senior Alumnus of the Year and featured as one of ten individuals in the history of the University in a video presentation entitled, World Changers: Ten Who Have Made A Difference.
David has become recognized in the international community as a gifted speaker in the field of Business Development and Human Capital Development. Using humor and a relaxed stage presence to engage his audiences, he encourages them to see everyday circumstances with a new sense of energy, delight, and possibility.
He is the author of the book, Dancing With Yesterday's Shadows: When Where You've Been is Keeping You From Where You Want To Go. The book is accompanied by a three-hour video series and workbook by the same name. David currently resides with his family in Spring Lake, Michigan.
